Butterfield Excited For Boston Marathon
Tyler Butterfield said he is “super excited and nervous” about running his first Boston Marathon on Monday [April 15].
Butterfield, a two-time Olympian, holds the national marathon record after finishing in 2hr 21min 47sec at the Osaka-Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon in Otsu, Japan, in 2019.
The triathlete will re-tread the steps of his mother, Debbie Butterfield, who came fourth in the Boston Marathon in 1985.
“Super excited and nervous to run my first major and first Boston Marathon,” Butterfield wrote on Instagram yesterday.
“Very unorthodox preparation managing a calf injury, but still fit and excited.
“Thanks, Brad Kahlefeldt for these crazy ideas, we’ll miss you, and hopefully your injury is healed and you’re healthy soon for the next.
“Cheers, Morgan Pearson for some good runs, Rudy von Berg for a track session, and Parker Stinson for the pleasure of a long run too. Thanks, boys.
“And thanks Julie Dibens, for the extra fitness in the pool to keep me going.
“Off to another running adventure, some family and friends over in Boston already. Can’t wait to experience what the Boston Marathon is, just hope the body holds up for 26.2 [miles], never an easy task to race.
“Good luck and great runs to everyone on Monday.”
