Scott Barnes Makes Winning Start To Series

Bermudian karter Scott Barnes made a sensational start to the opening round of the Stars Championship at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, at the weekend.
Barnes, competing in the Shifter Masters class for Maranello Kart USA, almost completed a clean sweep of victories, winning heat one, the pre-final and final races.
The only slight blot on his near-perfect copybook was his second-place finish in heat two.
“I couldn’t have asked for much more,” Barnes told Bernews. “Maybe just one more win in the second heat!
“We’ve set the tone and I’m looking to build on that. To win [the final race] on the my opening weekend of the series was awesome.”
The series continues with round two at the New Castle Motorsports Park, Indiana, from May 31 to June 2.
“It’s a long series and there’s no drops, so every race counts,” added Barnes, who is also competing in the Rok Shifter Masters category. “To have a points lead is a great way to start.
