“The CNP credential is recognized as a symbol of excellence in nonprofit management and leadership. The credentialing programme included six months of virtual learning, an intensive applied project, a three-day leadership conference, and four in-person executive leadership sessions. In order to obtain the credential, participants must also demonstrate 300 hours of verifiable nonprofit work experience and 20 volunteer hours in the prior two years.”
Evaluation of the Bermuda pilot cohort highlighted that it increased the leadership competencies and confidence of participants, CNP participant Susan Richardson, Director of Counselling Services at Family Center shared, “I have had an amazing experience this past six months in the Certified Nonprofit Professional Credential programme [CNP]. I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to participate. Every module has been relevant and has provided me with the knowledge and skills to thrive as a nonprofit leader. There are so many rich resources that I now have compiled and will certainly use from here on. Truly, I have learned so much as a nonprofit leader.”
Nonprofit Alliance Executive Director Dr Nicola Paugh added, “this cohort’s completion marks a significant milestone in the Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda’s mission to strengthen and unify nonprofits and build a pipeline of future nonprofit leaders for the island. The process was intensive and demonstrates the commitment these individuals have to the nonprofit sector and to professional excellence. We acknowledge them for this commitment. We also thank the Bermuda Foundation who subsidize 75% of the programme costs, ensuring that the opportunity is accessibly priced – so that cost is not a barrier to professional development.”
Bermuda Foundation Managing Director Dr Myra Virgil further added, “On behalf of the Bermuda Foundation, I would like to express heartfelt congratulations to the CNP graduates, recognizing that the programme has required a great deal of time and commitment from them. The nonprofit sector will benefit from the expertise acquired by these outstanding graduates, whose numbers are growing with every cohort.”
