Jaydon Goddard Makes Bodybuilding Pro Debut
Bermudian bodybuilder Jaydon Goddard made his professional debut at the IFBB Pittsburgh Pro earlier this month in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A spokesperson said, “Behind the Olympia and Arnold Classic Competitions, this is considered one of the largest and most prestigious professional bodybuilding competitions in the sport.
“Goddard competed for the first time as a professional in the men’s physique category, having gained his pro card in October 2023 at the 2023 Amateur Olympia Orlando. At 25 years old, Goddard is the youngest Bermudian bodybuilder to earn this designation.
“Stacked against 18 of the most elite competitors in the sport, the experience for Goddard was the reason to compete so soon after turning pro.”
Mr. Goddard said, “I went into this competition not expecting a win, but I wanted to gain the experience and exposure of competing as a professional athlete. I received useful feedback from judges and more established competitors, and I am looking forward to making improvements in my physique and presentation for my next competition.”
He trains under Coach Muhsin Nasir of BEAST Gym, a sponsor of his Pro Debut.
Mr. Goddard said, “My coach continued to remind me that everyone on the stage had to be the best in their respective categories at some point to get there. I am grateful for his guidance and my other sponsors including BEAST Gym, Balance Bermuda, the Government of Bermuda, Bermuda Cupcake Company & Snowball Shack, The Spot Restaurant, and Candi Cre8ions. I’d also like to thank my family and friends for their continual support through my journey.”
The spokesperson said, “While Goddard went into the event not expecting a win, he has had a successful run in the sport leading to his professional debut. He entered his first men’s physique competition in 2019 and since then has competed in eight shows:
- 2019- NPC Daytona Beach Classic [1st Novice Class A, 1st True Novice, 1st Open Class B]
- 2021- NPC Daytona Beach Classic [3rd Class B]
- 2022- NPC Worldwide Arnold Amateur [5th Class A]
- 2022- NPC Worldwide Caribbean Grand Prix Bermuda [2nd Class A]
- 2023- NPC Worldwide Caribbean Summer Classic, Dominican Republic [2nd Class B]
- 2023- NPC Worldwide Royal Grand Prix Bermuda [1st Overall, 1st Men's Physique, 1st Class B]
- 2023- Amateur Olympia Orlando [1st Class A, 2nd Men's Physique Overall, IFBB Pro Card]
- 2024- IFBB Pittsburgh Pro [16th]
“Jaydon Goddard attended Bermuda Institute and The Berkeley Institute before attending Eastern Florida State College to study computer programming and analysis. While in school, he began working out as a means of stress relief and was encouraged to enter a competition. He estimates that during a show, his body fat percentage is in the 3-5% range, while off-season it is at about 12-15%.
“Goddard trains in the gym most days and prepares all his own meals to ensure consistency in his diet.”
