Premier Burt’s Trip To Dubai Cost $7,796.46

A trip in February 2024 by Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt to Dubai, United Arab Emirates cost $7,796.46, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from February 1, 2024 – February 7, 2024, and the web page listing said, “The Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. David Burt, JP. MP., travelled to Dubai, United Arab Emigrates, to attend the annual Satoshi Roundtable Conference during the period 1st – 7th February, 2024. The Satoshi Roundtable is an invite-only conference, which gathers top fintech founders, leaders and executives, and has been running yearly since 2014.

“The Government of Bermuda receives an annual invitation, in recognition of Bermuda’s continued leadership in the fintech space. The Government has sent a delegation to this event since 2019, to ensure the highest level of visibility for Bermuda.

“The Hon. David Burt, JP. MP., in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, led a delegation consisting of representatives from the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and the Government’s Economic Development Department.

“While in Dubai, the Premier and Minister of Finance joined regular meetings in Bermuda, such as Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting. Additionally, the Premier and Minister of Finance and Ms. Alexia Hefti, the Government’s Middle East Representative, met with Mr. Jonathan Knight, the UK’s Acting Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission to the United Arab Emigrants.

“The meeting aimed to introduce Ms. Hefti to the UK mission, and discuss the UK’s support for Bermuda’s strategic objectives in the GCC region to attract investment to the Island, which the UK has pledged to provide.

“The Premier and Minister of Finance’s hotel costs, conference fees, and meals were covered by the Conference host.”
