Trade Union Congress Elects New Executive
The Bermuda Trade Union Congress [BTUC] recently elected a new Executive, with Timothy Seon elected President, Dean Smith and Selena Fields elected First and Second Vice President, respectively, Audley Quallo elected General Secretary, Thelma Simmons elected Assistant General Secretary, Renee Jones elected Treasurer, and Shakia Smith elected Assistant Treasurer.
A spokesperson said, “In accordance with Article 10 of the Constitution of the Bermuda Trade Union Congress [BTUC], the Biennial Convention of the BTUC was held on 29 April 2024.
“At the closure of Business, the election of officers, to serve for the next term took place, and the results were as follows:
- Bro. Timothy Seon [POA], President
- Bro. Dean Smith [FSA], First Vice President
- Sis. Selena Fields [BEU], Second Vice President
- Bro. Audley Quallo [BPSU], General Secretary
- Sis. Thelma Simmons [BIU], Assistant General Secretary
- Sis. Renee Jones [BPSU], Treasurer
- Sis. Shakia Smith [BPSU], Assistant Treasurer
“The newly formed Executive will hold its first Executive Board meeting in the coming weeks, and look forward to the continued dialogue, open communication, and consultation, that will encourage and promote effective labour and community relations.”
