2024 Bermuda Heritage Month Events Unveiled
Bermuda will be will be celebrating Bermudian culture, heritage and traditions for the entire month of May.
A Government spokesperson said, “May 1 marks the start of the annual Heritage Month celebrations, with the Department of Culture encouraging the community to partake in Bermuda’s rich heritage. A plethora of historic, cultural, and entertainment events await, courtesy of Bermuda’s creative community.

“This year’s Heritage Month theme is ‘Culture = Energy’, and signature events being supported by the Department include:
- “Heritage Month Yoga, Bermudaful Centre for Mindfulness & The Department of Culture – Every Saturday
- “Bermuda Arts Council 2024 Awards Ceremony – Saturday, May 4
- “Cultural Roots and Green Shoots: A Celebration of Heritage and Environment” Harbour Nights Sponsored by the Department of Culture & Keep Bermuda Beautiful – Wednesday, May 15
- “The Bermuda Day Parade – Friday, May 24
- “The Chewstick Foundation Open Mic Jam Sessions sponsored by the Department of Culture – Sunday, May 26
Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, Sen. Owen Darrell said, “Heritage Month is one of the most highly anticipated times of year as we celebrate our island’s culture and traditions that make us proud to be Bermudian.”
“This year, I am excited to celebrate the energy of our Heritage all month long, and particularly on Bermuda Day which falls on the traditional date of Friday, May 24th.”
“For the second year in a row, members of the public are encouraged to give back to the Bermuda Day Parade participants through the Bermuda Day Fund. Interested sponsors for the fund, a partnership with the Bermuda Foundation which offers up-to $2,500 towards expenses for parade entrants, can donate by visiting www.GiveBermuda.org. Donations are accepted into the Bermuda Day Fund year-round.
“While preparations are in full swing for the Bermuda Day Parade, applications for entry have been extended until Friday, May 3 to ensure ample opportunity for extensive community involvement.
“To celebrate the launch of Heritage Month, the Department of Culture launched a video across various social media platforms today. The video, filmed and edited by videographer Qian Dickinson and featuring music by Bermudian artist Ninja Cutty, showcases Bermuda Day energy from previous years:

“The public can view the Bermuda Day parade from start to finish via live coverage on the Government’s Facebook page, CITV YouTube channel and on CITV [One Communications channel 2 and WoW channel 102].
