Bermuda Swimmers Win Two Medals In Mexico
One month after the National Swimming Championships took place at the National Sports Center, the XXXVI CCCAN Championships got underway in Monterrey, Mexico, with Bermuda winning 2 medals on the opening night.
Elijah Daley claimed Bermuda’s first medal at the Championships winning the bronze medal in the 15-17 men’s 200 LC meter individual medley A final clocking a time of 2:09.30. Sam Williamson captured the men’s 18 & over 200 LC meter individual medley bronze medal; touching the wall in a time of 2:08.03.
Earlier in the preliminaries, 10 swimmers made it to finals.
Scarlett Spurling advanced to the 11-12 women’s 200 LC meter individual medley B final clocking a time of 2:45.99, finishing 11th in the preliminaries.
Rory Shepard will compete in the 11-12 men’s 200 LC meter individual medley B final, after clocking the 15th fastest time in the preliminaries clocking 2:41.83.
During the 13-14 women’s 200 LC meter individual medley preliminaries Katherine Wheddon finished 8th clocking 2:38.01 advancing to the A final.
Connor Hupman advanced to the 13-14 men’s 200 LC meter individual medley A final after finishing with the 4th fastest time in the preliminaries clocking 2:20.38, while Noah Maranzana finished 19th overall in the preliminaries clocking 2:35.57.
Marleigh Howes earned a spot in the 15-17 women’s 200 LC meter individual medley A final after finishing 8th in the preliminaries clocking 2:35.99.
Elijah Daley will compete in the 15-17 men’s 200 LC meter individual medley A final after clocking the 4th fastest preliminary time of 2:11.06.
During the men’s 18 & over 200 LC meter individual medley preliminaries Sam Williamson clocked the fastest time of 2:08.65.
Spurling advanced to the A final of the 11-12 women 100 LC meter breaststroke after clocking the 8th fastest preliminary time of 1:25.71.
During the 13-14 women’s 100 LC meter breaststroke preliminaries Isabella Jones clocked the 5th fastest time of 1:20.16 advancing to the A final.
Rhys Insley advanced to the 15-17 men 100 LC meter breaststroke B final after clocking the 12th fastest time of 1:09.88 in the preliminaries.
Williamson will compete in his second A final after clocking a men’s 18 & over 100 LC meter breaststroke preliminaries clocking the 7th fastest time of 1:05.85.
