Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025
In the lead up to the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025 [CCLD 2025], country organizers are hard at work paving the way for delegates, sponsors and government supporters.
A spokesperson said, “Leveraging the Caribbean Public Services Association [CPSA] conference, CCLD Lead Director Hemi Mitic was in Bermuda to meet with the Premier the Hon E. David Burt, JP, MP, Minister of Labour and Economic Development the Hon Jason Hayward. JP, MP, [a Conference alum]. Bermuda steering committee co-chairs and alum Tammy L Richardson Augustus JP and Advisory Committee member Edward Ball Jr. collaborated on the outreach.”
Hemi Mitic said: “Diversity and experiential learning are not just goals; they are at the heart of the CCLD 2025. The conference draws from government, labour, business, education and social enterprises to bring together 100 of the most promising leaders from the Caribbean and Canada. Exposing each to new experiences, provoking robust dialogue and challenging perspectives to improve the quality and relevance of their decision-making; collaboration and critical analysis is key to how we build leadership competencies”
The spokesperson said, “CCLD’s theme for 2025 is Impact-Driven Leadership: Creating Positive Change In Our Communities. Six-sub themes – diversity/inclusion, sustainability/innovation, ethics, impact, collaboration, and advocacy.
“Delegates will convene in Toronto for a three-day opening plenary, followed by groups of delegates assigned to Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, and Jamaica for four days of dialogue, experiences and collaboration. Each host country will consider one of the sub themes and report their findings to President of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conferences, HRH The Princess Royal Princess Anne and Wes Hall, Chair of the CCLD 2025 during the closing plenary in Barbados.
“The practice of learning by observing and discussion was established from the start of the study conferences. In 1956, following a visit to northern Canada where the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip saw extreme disparities in approaches to problems, he rallied 300 industry, government, and labour together in Oxford, UK to use dialogue and experience to forge solutions for the broader good of the Commonwealth. His vision remains steadfast today, under the auspice of his daughter HRH Princess Anne.
“Amplifying cross-sectoral dialogue of human challenges to source solutions applicable across the Commonwealth is at the heart of this conference’s leadership goals. The application process is scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2024.”
