“It’s after an incident in Bradford on 12 August in 2022 where a third party report was made about a man being chased and assaulted through Lonsdale Street.

“Officers arrived to find that the victim had been forced into a vehicle. The vehicle was then driven to an address in Sheffield on Popple Street where the man was held against his will and assaulted.

“The suspects then made calls to the victim’s family to demand money for his release.

“Officers were able to locate the suspects and armed officers entered the address and safeguarded the victim and made several arrests. The victim suffered minor injuries.

“On 19 July at Bradford Crown Court the three defendants were sentenced to:

  • Zarie Jackson-Burchall, was jailed for 6 years and 8 months
  • Shanikae Smith-Gardener was jailed for 5 years
  • Jahrico Smith Gardener was jailed for 5 years

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Freeman of West Yorkshire Police said, “We welcome the sentence in what has been a lengthy ordeal for the victim. This was a serious offence and these three offenders put the victim in fear for his life, luckily he only suffered minor injuries. I hope this sentence goes someway into giving the victim some closure and justice.”

    Charming.
    Sons of the soil

    • Will Kelly says:

Children of the soil. It appears Bermudians migrate to the UK and act stupidly. At least we don’t have to pay for their upkeep.

“At least we don’t have to pay for their upkeep.”

Yeah, and we’re proud of this.

It’s sad, pathetic, embarrassing and makes us look like bumpkins.

Yes, Proper punishment! They have 5+ years to think about what they did.
How do you leave Bermuda to become homeless in the UK? Not very smart.

  3. Hilarious says:

As long as the UK does not send a bill to our Government, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

    • Truth says:

They should send us a bill…then we can ignore it and go independent, like we deserve to. LOL

      • Yoyo says:

Independence would be illogical for such a small island like Bermuda; since Bermuda is very limited and independence would increase much restriction on those who want to travel or work in the UK, overseas territories and even Commonwealth nation’s.

Besides offshore banking and tourism, what resources could Bermuda offers to Bermudian. Losing the British Passport would complicated the “work without visa” for those in the UK or want to travel there.

So I hardly believed “deserve” independence would benefits both Bermudian and Bermuda. So
