Flora Of Bermuda Takes Group 3 Win In York
Flora Of Bermuda recently secured her first Group win after winning the Group 3 Summer Stakes at the York Racecourse.
Stepping up to six furlongs, the three-year-old filly, owned by Bermuda Racing, was ridden by PJ McDonald, who returned from a lengthy injury absence, and claimed a three-quarter-length win.
Trained by Andrew Balding, it was Flora Of Bermuda’s fourth black-type race, with previous placings including a second at the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster and a second in the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown Park, Surrey.
Simon Scupham, of Bermuda Racing, said: “Patience is the name of the game!
“Flora’s terrific win in York’s highly competitive Group 3 Summer Stakes was so well deserved.
“She has always been regarded as a special horse with a special talent but so often the gods have transpired against her.
“Her patience shown by the trainer and all his team is now paying off. Stepping her up to six furlongs was also inspired.
“Lots to look forward to.”
