Govt Issue Advisory On Tropical Cyclone Five
“While Tropical Cyclone Five does not pose an immediate threat to Bermuda given its predicted path, it is crucial that we remain vigilant as it approaches us,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Government and the Emergency Measures Organisation [EMO] are closely monitoring the development of Tropical Cyclone Five in the Caribbean, which is currently due east of the Leeward Islands. This system is expected to develop into a Tropical Depression today.
“Forecasters predict it could strengthen into a tropical storm by this afternoon. The projected track places the system southeast of Bermuda by the weekend, with the potential to develop into a Category 2 hurricane.
“However, it is important to note that the storm’s track and intensity could change as the system evolves. As of the noon advisory today, the Bermuda Weather Service reported that the system is located approximately 1,148 nautical miles south/southeast of Bermuda and is moving west at 23 knots [26 miles per hour]. The storm currently has maximum winds of 30 knots, gusting to 40 knots.”

Minister Weeks assures the public that the Government and the EMO are taking all necessary precautions. He stated, “The EMO has scheduled a meeting of its executive team for Wednesday to ensure that all relevant agencies are fully prepared for any potential impact this weekend.”
Minister Weeks has emphasised the importance of early preparation and strongly advises residents to take the storm seriously. He added, “We urge all residents to begin their storm preparations now.
“Please ensure that your properties are secure by removing loose debris and outdoor furniture, checking on your neighbours and the elderly to ensure that they are prepared and informed, stocking up on necessary supplies, including medicine and making arrangements to secure pets.
“For those with boats, please make arrangements to secure them in advance. Additionally, it is critical that residents review and update their home insurance policies, ensuring that both home contents and property damage are covered.
“While it is natural to feel that the storm may change course or diminish in intensity, we must not underestimate its potential threat. Hurricanes can be unpredictable, and it is crucial that we take the necessary steps to prepare now rather than face the consequences of being unprepared.
“Your safety and the safety of your loved ones depend on it. Do not wait until it is too late; act now to protect yourself and your community.”
The spokesperson said, “The EMO will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide regular updates to the public.
“Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take proactive measures to protect themselves and their properties and are reminded that the Bermuda Weather Service is the official source of weather information.
“For more information on how to prepare for a hurricane, please see this Government page.”
Is this woke talk, or serious climate change? A cyclone is a storm in the eastern hemisphere. Here they are storms then hurricanes. Another sad example of poor education.
All tropical rotating storms (typhoons in pacific, hurricanes in Atlantic (and technically eastern pacific off the coast of the USA), and cyclones in Indian oceans) can be referred to as cyclones – mainly due to their rapid cyclonic winds that either, typically, spin counter clockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern. Just fyi.
I do agree that it should be called a tropical depression then a hurricane as always but that’s where the confusion is, is that a hurricane (like all other TRS named above) is actually a cyclone as well.

The general manage hauled me into his office ask me to go to Somerset and see what we could do to help.
Whe i arrived at bobs valley i could hardly beleive the devastation many women were crying in the street contractor we waiting to get to work I told each home owner to get a contractor and get the job started immediately and bring the bill in to us at the corporation for immediate payment, as we would deal with the respective insurance companies for settlement
