Police Confirm Death Of Shani Simmons

The police have confirmed the death of 24-year-old Shani Simmons, which marks the fourth road fatality of the year,

A police spokesperson said, “Sadly, the Bermuda Police Service [BPS] can now confirm Bermuda’s fourth road fatality of 2024, 24-year-old, Shani Simmons, and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

“As stated in the original witness appeal made by the BPS on Friday, July 12, 2024, around 11:57 p.m. on Thursday, July 11th, 2024, police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle at Pepper Hall/Orange Hole Road, St. George’s.

“It is understood a male motorcycle rider was travelling east, along Tommy Fox Road, near the junction with Pepper Hall Road, St. George’s, when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with what is believed to be a metal pole.

“Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim receiving treatment from EMTs.

“He was admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where he was later pronounced dead on Monday, July 15, 2024.

“A BPS Family Liaison Officer was then assigned to provide relevant support to the family of Mr. Simmons.

“This road fatality is currently being investigated by the Roads Policing Unit [RPU].
