IDA-Bermuda Player Identification Events
IDA-Bermuda, in collaboration with international soccer programs, is holding a week-long camp and player ID sessions on the island, aimed at identifying talented players for international training camps and tournaments.
A spokesperson said, “International Development Academy and IDA-Bermuda have been holding a camp program & player ID sessions on island throughout this half term school break. Coaches from the IDA-Valencia program in Spain, Surf Select & FC United in the USA, and IDA-Bermuda have been evaluating players in birth years ranging from 2012 through to 2007 with the goal to identify talented players for invitation to training camps & travel select teams to complete in international tournaments.
“In addition to the week long camp for players that has been based at the National Sports Center north field & Warwick Academy, the coaches have been in attendance at the BFA U18 league matches played at the Flora Duffy National Stadium.
“IDA offers residential programs, camps, and short term programs to help enhance player development and aid players in fulfilling their football & academic goals. The program has full time academies in Spain, Italy, UK, and the USA and the main objectives is to provide high-quality coaching & training programs to prepare players for professional & collegiate pathways. The sporting development of the player is supported by academic studies to ensure that players have options for university studies in addition to pursuing a professional football career.
“IDA-Bermuda, led by Richard Todd, has helped to provide exposure and unique competitive opportunities for players from Bermuda to travel and compete in competitive tournaments & event. IDA-Bermuda teams have travelled to play in the Super Cup Northern Ireland tournament in each of the last three years, wining team and individual honours. Through the network of affiliated clubs and programs accessible as an IDA partner, players have also travelled solo or in small groups to join teams from Surf Soccer Clubs, Surf Select, and FC United travel teams to participate in tournaments around the world. This year IDA-Bermuda players attended the Surf Cup Morocco, Mediterranean International Cup in Spain, Man City Cup in San Diego, Royal Pre-Season Cup in the UK as some of the events offered for players to guest play.
“A final open session for boys and girls born in years 2007-2010 will be held at Warwick Academy School on Friday October 25, 2024. Any player who is interested to be seen by the coaches and considered for future programming invites is welcomed to attend. The session will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, players are asked to arrive by 12:45 pm.
“The coaches will run the players through some drills and activities, before forming teams to observe them playing in games.
