Bermuda National Trust To Host Walkabout
The Annual BNT Walkabout will be held on Friday, December 6, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
A spokesperson said, “St. George’s will transform into a festive wonderland on the evening of Friday [December 6] from 6 pm to 9 pm as the Bermuda National Trust [BNT] Walkabout welcomes locals and visitors alike to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
“This treasured event, now in its 44th year, offers a magical evening of history, culture, community and entertainment in the island’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Historic Homes Open to All
“Visitors can tour several beautifully decorated BNT properties, including The Old Rectory, Bridge House, Buckingham, Reeve Court, and Stewart Hall, all open free of charge.
“At the Globe Museum, learn about Bermuda’s early settlers and ongoing archaeological projects and admire intricate creations by the Bermuda Guild of Stitchery.
“The museum’s gift shop Trustworthy will also be open. It is the perfect stop for finding unique Christmas presents.
“Other historic and cultural landmarks in St. George’s will also welcome guests, including St Peter’s Church, Mitchell House, Hannibal Lodge, Ebenezer Methodist Church, and the Pilot Darrell House, among many others.
Music, Shopping, and Festive Treats
“Live entertainment by musicians and dancers will fill King’s Square, adding to the evening’s lively atmosphere.
“Shops throughout St. George’s will stay open late, making it a great opportunity to tick items off your Christmas shopping list.
“For refreshments, food vendors in King’s Square will serve up delicious treats, including offerings from Four Star Pizza, Ashley’s Lemonade, Funnelicious, Hot Dog Delight, Bermuda Cupcake Company, and Jazzy’s Treats.
“For festive beverages, Gosling’s will host two pop-up cocktail bars on Water Street and in the garden at Globe Museum.
A Community Effort
“The event is made possible by the generous support of sponsors, particularly Gold Sponsor Butterfield Bank. HSBC, Gosling’s, Butterfield & Vallis, The Corporation of St. George’s, BELCO, and the Department of Culture are also generous sponsors of the event.
“The team at BNT extends its heartfelt thanks to tenants opening their homes and to the numerous volunteers whose efforts ensure the Walkabout’s success.
“For the second time, the BNT has partnered with Butterfield Bank’s “Toys for Tots” programme.
“Visitors are encouraged to bring unwrapped toy donations, which can be dropped off at designated locations during the event.
Plan Your Visit
“To ease traffic congestion, there will be no parking in central St. George’s, and on-street parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.
“Visitors are encouraged to park at Kindley Field, where free shuttle buses will operate from 5 pm to 10.30 pm.
“Limited parking is available at St. George’s Prep for a donation to the PTA.
“The pre-paid parking at Tiger Bay/Penno’s Wharf is fully booked, and only vehicles with valid tickets or Disabled Persons Parking Badge will be allowed entry.
