Four Bermudian motocross riders are set to showcase their skills at the Thor Min O’s competition at Gatorback Cycle Park in Alachua, Florida.

Teenage brothers Jazuri Easton Thompson and Jazai Easton Thompson, and father-and-son pair Aaron Cannonier and A’Kyo Cannonier will compete at the week-long event, starting on Saturday [November 23].

The annual event is one of the largest amateur motocross competitions in the United States.

Jamel Thompson, vice-president of the Bermuda Motocross Association, will accompany the riders to offer support and guidance during the competition.

“We’ve been competing in this competition for about four years now,” Thompson told Bernews.

Jazuri, who has been racing full-time in the US for the past year, is expected to be competitive at the event.

“We’re hoping for a strong performance from Jazuri,” said Thompson, the father of Jazuri and Jazai.

He emphasised the importance of international exposure for Bermuda’s riders, particularly in challenging environments like Gatorback Cycle Park.

“It’s very important for our riders to get overseas experience and race on different terrains,” he added. “It helps our riders develop faster.”
