BEJI Thanks Minister For Community Event
BEJI expressed gratitude to Minister Kim Wilkerson for leading a Community Connect session.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative [BEJI] extends its heartfelt gratitude to Madam Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Kim Wilkerson for hosting the Community Connect session.
“The event was well attended and featured thought-provoking and engaging discussions in an inviting atmosphere. Community members had the opportunity to engage directly with AG Wilkerson, who listened attentively and responded thoughtfully to everyone’s questions. It was evident throughout the evening that AG Wilkerson is deeply committed to and passionate about justice reform in Bermuda.
“Discussions during the session covered a range of important topics, including but not limited to:
- Incorporating a restorative justice approach within government agencies
- Reforms to landlord and tenant laws
- Updates to the Youth Offenders Act
- Increasing resources for the incarcerated
- Revisiting cannabis laws to reflect modern times
- Revising laws around trash collection to reduce rodent infestations
“BEJI applauds AG Wilkerson and her team for facilitating such a meaningful dialogue with the community and looks forward to participating in future Community Connect events.”
