Post Office Security Team Earns PSEA Award

The Bermuda Post Office Security Team — Richard Hazelwood, Tekle Ming, John Pitcher, Keith Wainwright, Barbara Ingemann, Samuel Brangman, and Dwayne Brown — earned the Public Service Excellence Award [PSEA] for November.

A Government spokesperson said, “On Friday, December 13th, the Government of Bermuda announced the Bermuda Post Office [BPO] Security Team as the November recipients of the monthly Public Service Excellence Award [PSEA].

“This distinguished team, including Richard Hazelwood, Tekle Ming, John Pitcher, Keith Wainwright, Barbara Ingemann, Samuel Brangman, and retired member Dwayne Brown, has been recognised for their outstanding commitment to excellence in postal security and service.

“The Security Team recently earned the prestigious Gold Standard Certification from the Universal Postal Union for the second consecutive time. The Universal Post Union audits standards every three years, hence, this successful re-certification showcases the Bermuda Post Office’s dedication to enhancing postal security for the people of Bermuda. This achievement is a testament to the team’s rigorous adherence to international standards, safeguarding postal facilities, and ensuring the safe delivery of customer mail and packages.”

Premier David Burt applauded the team’s achievement, stating, “This achievement by the Bermuda Post Office Security Team is a shining example of the dedication and expertise that define Bermuda’s Public Service. Earning the Gold Standard Certification from the Universal Postal Union for a second consecutive time underscores the team’s commitment to excellence. I extend my congratulations to each team member for this accomplishment.”

The Government spokesperson said, “The certification process requires meeting stringent compliance standards, including the inspection of physical documents and international facility reviews. By achieving this recognition, the Bermuda Post Office demonstrates their readiness to mitigate security risks and uphold the integrity of local and international postal operations.”

Head of the Public Service, Cherie-lynn Whitter, also extended her congratulations, “It is with great pride and admiration that we recognize the Security Team at the Bermuda Post Office for achieving the Gold Standard in the processing and handling of mail. Their efforts ensure the safety and integrity of our postal services, setting a benchmark for others to follow. Congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved recognition!”
