City Of Hamilton Donates $2,100 To BCCL
The City of Hamilton announced that $2,100 raised through its annual Christmas party raffle was donated to the Bermuda Center for Creative Learning [BCCL].
A spokesperson said, “The donation was officially made today during a cheque presentation at City Hall.
“The raffle, held as part of the City’s internal holiday celebrations, is an initiative by the City’s Engagement Committee to raise funds for local charities. In 2024, BCCL was selected as the City’s Charity of the Year and has received ongoing support through this designation, including today’s donation and other contributions throughout the year.”
City CEO Dwayne Caines said: “Supporting organizations like BCCL is part of the City of Hamilton’s mission to uplift our community. The funds raised through our annual raffle will go toward empowering students who think and learn differently, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. This donation is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the transformative work BCCL does every day.”
The spokesperson said, “BCCL is a Hamilton-based private school that caters to children beginning at age six who think and learn differently. Many of its students are diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, or other language-based learning differences. The school provides a personalized and flexible learning environment tailored to the social, emotional, and academic needs of its students.”
Head of School Cindy Corday expressed her gratitude, saying: “This generous donation from the City of Hamilton will have a meaningful impact on our students, helping us enhance our programs through the purchasing of specialized learning materials, and creating new opportunities for growth. The City’s continued support reminds us that our mission to empower neurodivergent learners is valued and appreciated by the broader community. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and look forward to making a difference together.”
The spokesperson said, “In addition to the Christmas raffle proceeds, the City of Hamilton has previously supported BCCL through in-kind contributions, including venue sponsorships and promotional assistance.”
Mr. Caines added: “Our annual raffle is more than just a fundraising effort—it’s an opportunity for us to support organizations like BCCL that change lives. We are inspired by their dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment and are honored to contribute to their work.”
The spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton looks forward to continuing its partnership with BCCL throughout 2025, supporting the school’s mission to empower young minds and create lasting positive change.”
