Independent Candidate Renee Webb
Renee Webb – - a former PLP MP and Minister — will be running as an Independent Candidate in Constituency 13 Devonshire North Central in the upcoming general election.
Her campaign flyer states, “Renee is standing as an independent candidate as she believes that party politics, while having pluses in Bermuda history, in the last twenty years, have cause much divisiveness, extensive debt, violence and community disruption.”
Since the one seat system in 2003, the PLP have won the seat in all 5 General Elections, and the seat is currently held by the PLP’s Diallo Rabain, who serves as the Minister of Education. The OBA does not currently list a candidate for C13 on their website.

“party politics, while having pluses in Bermuda history, in the last twenty years, have cause much divisiveness, extensive debt, violence and community disruption”
On that we can agree.
Yeah and she has played a big role in that divisiveness!
One of the chief PLP architects in the destruction of Bermuda now running as an independent to save us. A form of confession?
Free rest home care? Nothing is free. How will that be funded?
Free university education? Which schools? Any school at any value ?
A whole lot of fluff with no details.
I hope folks are not hoodwinked. The independent party is a bunch of folks who only want to see PLP out. They have no tangible plans for delivery.
The idea of all that ‘free stuff’ is what she picked up from the PLP , now she’s stealing their ideas .. LOL
Looks like the PLP is running scared. Desperate to belittle anyone running against them.
Folks want to see the PLP out? You had better believe it. What has their record been since the DrEB regime years? For starters we went from a modest manageable debt to a debt totally unimaginably possible before 1998, and no plans, no ideas on how to do anything about it.
Money falls from the sky in the minds of the PLP. It never needs paying back.
Says the OBA spokesperson who’s party is really running scared.
I think most of us know the OBA has no chance of regaining power hence all the independents appearing . The important thing here is to remove the PLP whichever way can work even if it means taking baby steps to reduce the numbers in the house . Either way we are screwed for many years to come so any new hope is well over due .
The OBA needs to stop running a bunch puppet surrogates and they might just win. Until that happens the party is as popular as a cesspool to the majority of voters.
Anyone who reads what I say will quickly see that I am no fan of party politics. I have been beating the pro independent MP drum for many years.
The facts are that the OBA has a record and that record shows that in their one short term they accomplished more than the PLP did in fourteen years prior.
Not true! The PLP Government from about 2004 until the 2012 election managed to incur more debt than any previous Government in Bermuda’s history.
According to E.T. (B0B) Richards, there was no plan to repay the debt or even interest on that debt in early 2013, and so in its first budget the OBA had to borrow money to pay interest on our BILLIONS of debt.
says the PLP spokesperson.
You have to ask yourselves if so many people who were historically in the PLP want the PLP out, then there must be some seriously grave concerns with how the PLP are governing Bermuda. People who were PLP all de way are, or standing strong now no longer believe in the PLP of today, so much so, that they are standing as independents.
I think it’s Moreso those that didn’t get what they want so they want to pull the whole thing down.
You also might want to really ask yourself why they didn’t join the oba. Even Susan Jackson has left the oba before it rejoins the titanic at the bottom of the sea.
2 more from the PLP today. That makes 4 plus a defection to the OBA. Doesn’t say much for your party. Who’s next, there are several I can think of.
