Jones Wins BPGA Stroke Play Championship
Nicholas Jones emerged triumphant in the Bermuda Professional Golf Association [BPGA] Stroke Play Championship at Tucker’s Point Golf Course, battling through high winds and showers to claim the title.
The two-day event saw seven of Bermuda’s top professionals tackle the challenging par-70 course in demanding conditions. Chaka DeSilva held the first round lead after carding a 2-over par 72 in the first round, with Jones just one stroke behind.
However, Jones showcased his resilience and skill in the testing weather, posting a 4-over par 74 in the morning round and following it up with a 5-over par 75 in the afternoon. His consistent play across the 36 holes earned him a total score of 222 and secured him the championship title.
Dwayne Pearman Sr. made a strong charge with a 1-over par 71 in the morning round, but a challenging afternoon round of 9-over par 79 saw him finish in second place with a total of 224.
DeSilva and Quinton Sherlock Jr. shared a tie for third place, both finishing on 228. DeSilva carded rounds of 79 and 77, while Sherlock Jr. shot 81 and 75.
