Met Opera: Live In HD & Encore Series Showing
The Bermuda Opera Team is set to present Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette on Sunday [Feb 2] at 5.00pm at BUEI.
A spokesperson said, “Met. Opera [on film] started the latest season in November 2024 at BUEI. The Bermuda Opera Team is proud to continue to present the Met: Live in HD [2023-24] & Encore series in Bermuda [on film]. Don’t miss your chance to see these world-class productions on the big screen in high definition quality.
“All operas on Sundays at 5.00pm at BUEI, unless otherwise advised. All have English subtitles and are approx. 3-4 hours long [inc 30 minute interval]
“The next opera this season is Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette – a Met Revival – approximately 3 hours and 35 minutes [in French with English subtitles] on Sunday, 2 February 2025 at 5pm at BUEI.

“Two singers at the height of their powers—soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Benjamin Bernheim—come together as the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s Shakespeare adaptation, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium to conduct one of the repertoire’s most romantic scores. Bartlett Sher’s staging also features baritone Will Liverman and tenor Frederick Ballentine as the archrivals Mercutio and Tybalt, mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey as the mischievous pageboy Stéphano, and bass-baritone Alfred Walker as Frère Laurent.
