OBA Reacts To Hazel Clark’s BTA Resignation
Senator Dwayne Robinson is calling the resignation of Hazel Clark from the Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] “disappointing.”
Senator Robinson said, “It’s very disappointing to see that yet another valuable member of the Bermuda Tourism Authority has tendered their resignation.
“Ms Clark has been unwavering in her commitment to raise the profile of our island home and has garnered results—the loss for the BTA is a a loss for the Bermuda tourism product.
“The question has been asked multiple times, and I will ask once again: What is happening at the BTA that the public deserves to know? We can no longer deny that something is amiss.
“For a Government that prides itself on combating work place bullying and fostering healthy work environments, how can this be allowed to stand without a thorough investigation into the work place culture of the BTA?
“How many more staff have to resign in order for the Tourism Minister to take his head out of the sand? And what about the chairman of the Board? The silence must end…Bermuda needs answers. Our flagship tourism organisation seems to be holding on by a thread.
“Change is needed; the question is who is bold enough to make it happen.”
Maybe too much PLP interference, plus the Minister?
Bermuda Tourism Authority Board eff Jan 2025
Mr. Wayne Caines – Chair
Mr. Joseph Best – Deputy Chair
Mr. Dennie O’Connor
Mr. William Griffith
Ms. Jennifer Phillips
Mr. Ronald Simmons
Mr. Kim Swan
Ms. Shiona Turini
The political interference needs to STOP! But the amount of resignations that take place at other companies….people resign all the time for a variety of reasons. Who cares about this. I’m sure the jobs that you are at aren’t perfect. Let them get on with their business and OBA focus on more important things to win this election! Jumping on PLP’s bandwagon isn’t a good look!
