The PLP propaganda machine is in very high gear. These so-called “Family Reunions” are nothing but high school styled pep rallies designed to hype up emotion.
There is no chance for public interaction other than shouting out slogans and chants. There is no opportunity for candidates to be put on the spot with questions from the public as in a town hall styled presentation with the opportunity for questions infront of a group of voters.
The PLP does not like to be questioned.
The PLP treats the governance of Bermuda as some sort of a game, not the serious business of managing Bermuda. They treat the voters as if they are school children with these parties. It seems that a large proportion of voters like to be treated in this disrespectful way.
The difference between the OBA and the PLP is that the OBA will run this country that will benefit us all, with fiscal responsibility, and yes yearly Pension increases.
With the PLP, money grows on trees.
Money does not grow on trees. It comes out of machines!
But will they?
Bob Richards didn’t provide any pension increases until the last year of the OBA administration. And Doug Decouto clearly waffled on whether the OBA would provide any increases.
The OBA doesn’t seem to care about whether or not seniors have any increases, and while the inflation increases don’t cover everything, it, at the least, provides some measures.
Another difference between the OBA and PLP is that the OBA has townhall styled meetings where voters are encouraged to speak up and question candidates.
The PLP holds highschool styled pep rallies loaded with candidates talking at voters, not with them where all can hear the voter speak and all can hear the candidate speak in response.
Huge difference in approach.
The PLP does’nt want to hear what the voters have to say. Give them some food, some green trinkets, some high pressure sales pitch like a timeshare sale, some catchy slogans to chant and send them on their way.
It’s how you win elections. Tell the voters what they should fear, and who is to blame for it. Certainly works here. Free turkeys and party on. No votes in telling the voters Bermuda is screwed, all the “freebies” will have to end and the cost of food is about to skyrocket thanks to Trump.
