The Salvation Army is thanking the public for surpassing their 2024 Christmas Campaign goal, raising over $200,000 for local programs.

A spokesperson said, “The Salvation Army wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the generous people of Bermuda for their incredible support of our 2024 Christmas Campaign. Your ongoing charitable commitment continues to make a significant difference in the lives of many in our community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed time, resources, and effort to ensure the success of this year’s campaign.

“In a year marked by rising living costs, your selflessness has been a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable among us. Thanks to your efforts, the Kettle Campaign raised $61,466 – surpassing our goal of $55,000. Additionally, donations through our Christmas Letter Appeal, Digital Campaign, and Giving Tuesday totaled $149,106, which will directly support vital programs and services throughout 2025. As the demand for our services grows, your contributions have come at a crucial time.”

Captain Dennis Maybury, Public Relations Officer, The Salvation Army, said, “Many in our community continue to face challenges due to the increased cost of living, impacting their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. In 2024, we saw an increase in the number of people relying on our services.

“Your donations are not just about providing food, shelter, or toys; they’re about offering hope. You’ve shown that as a community, we are standing together in these difficult times.”

The spokesperson said, “Every dollar raised through the Christmas Kettle campaign stays local, funding essential programs across Bermuda. The Salvation Army is committed to providing food, clothing, shelter, and life-changing programs such as substance abuse recovery, housing support, job training, and educational classes, all aimed at helping individuals break the cycle of poverty.”

Captain Maybury said, “We are consistently amazed by the generosity of the people of Bermuda. Each year, they rise to the occasion to support their community, and this year was no different. Your kindness makes all the difference in our ability to serve those in need, and we are profoundly thankful for your continued support.”

The spokesperson said, “We are also grateful for the invaluable contributions from our community groups, local businesses, corporate partners, and volunteers who give of their time, talents, and resources to support our Christmas Campaign. Special thanks to those who host donation boxes and Christmas Kettles at their locations, and to our media partners for their role in raising awareness, including the Inter-Island Family for hosting the ‘Fill the Truck’ campaign again this year.

“Though Christmas has passed, The Salvation Army remains committed to serving those in need year round. In 2024, there were over 1,500 Christmas food hampers distributed and 430 children receiving toys, with practical support being offered to thousands more throughout the year. With your generosity, we will continue to bring hope and care to our community in the months and years to come.

“Thank you for being such an essential part of the Salvation Army’s mission. Your support is transforming lives, today and every day.”
