Jahkenya Trott On Lindo’s Tigers Title Win

Jahkenya Trott has reflected on Lindo’s Tigers’ remarkable title triumph after they finished the Bermuda Netball Association Winter League season undefeated.
The Tigers capped off their flawless campaign with a 39-30 victory over Storm at Bernard Park last weekend, securing 36 points from 12 matches and ending the long-standing domestic dominance of Phoenix Heat.
Storm finished as runners-up with ten wins from 12 matches, with both of their defeats coming at the hands of the Tigers.
Trott, who scored 20 points in the decisive final game, described their maiden title as a special moment for the close-knit squad
“It’s been a long time coming!” Trott told Bernews. “Our mindset was, ‘This is our time; this is our dream.’”
She highlighted the team’s unity and improved cohesion as key factors behind their success.
“We did what we had to do and came out victorious. We played more as a team this season – that was a key difference.
“Our mindset was always to win the title, but we didn’t expect to go undefeated. It’s been gratifying.
“It’s always been a fight with Phoenix – they have some great players. Storm pushed us hard, too. I’m juts glad we came out on top.”
Trott also credited the Tigers’ coach, Anthony Mouchette, for his pivotal role in guiding the team to success.
“The coach deserves all the credit,” said the goal shooter. “He’s been coaching many of us since primary school. It was great to win a title for him.”
Trott revealed that her participation this season was uncertain after suffering a serious knee injury last year. Now, she is contemplating retirement from the sport.
“I’m not sure whether I’ll be out next season,” she admitted. “I had ACL reconstructive surgery, and I wasn’t sure I’d even be out this season. I’m glad I did!”
The Tigers are now preparing to compete in the Seniors Who’s Who Tournament at Bernard Park tomorrow [March 15].
