Mia Fishel’s Chelsea Women Win League Cup
Footballer Mia Fishel was an unused substitute in Chelsea Women’s 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Women’s League Cup final at Pride Park Stadium today [March 15].
Fishel, whose father is Bermudian, recently returned to first-team action after recovering from a serious knee injury.
The victory handed Chelsea their first trophy under head coach Sonia Bompastor and kept their bid for a historic quadruple alive.
Mayra Ramirez scored an early opener for Chelsea, bundling in a rebound before Aoba Fujino levelled after the break with a superb strike.
An own goal by Yui Hasegawa restored Chelsea’s lead in the 64th minute.
Fishel, who was born in San Diego, California, joined Chelsea from Mexican club Tigres in 2023, scoring once in ten appearances in the Women’s Super League last season.
