Shotocup Martial Arts Weekend On March 15/16
The Tiger Clash Taekwondo Tournament and the Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai [Karate] events will take place next weekend.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda is set to witness an electrifying weekend of martial arts excellence with Shotocup’s Dynamic Martial Arts Weekend, featuring two premier competitions: the Tiger Clash Taekwondo Tournament on March 15, 2025, and the Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai [Karate] on March 16, 2025. These two major events are shaping up to be a celebration of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship, bringing together martial artists from across the island.
“Hosted at Whitney Institute, this weekend will showcase Bermuda’s top martial arts talent, reinforcing the Bermuda Taekwondo Federation [BTF] and Bermuda Karate Federation [BKF]’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in combat sports. These organizations are making significant strides in professionalizing martial arts, ensuring that practitioners receive world-class training and competition opportunities while also nurturing the next generation of elite athletes.

“The Tiger Clash Taekwondo Tournament, hosted by Champion Taekwondo Academy, will bring together Bermuda’s top taekwondo athletes for a day of intense competition in Poomsae [forms], Kyorugi [sparring], and Kyopka [board breaking]. This event aims to highlight the athleticism and precision of taekwondo while creating an environment where both seasoned competitors and up-and-coming athletes can test their skills on a professional platform.
“Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai [Karate] – March 16, 2025
Open only to Karate practitioners and BKF members
“The Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai, a staple in the local karate scene, is dedicated to preserving and elevating the traditions of competitive karate in Bermuda. Featuring Kata [forms] and Kumite [sparring] divisions, this event will provide a thrilling showcase of technique, control, and strategy. As part of BKF’s mission to promote high-level karate, this tournament plays a crucial role in ensuring that Bermuda’s karate athletes are prepared for the global stage.
