Ministry: ‘Pothole Repairs Are Still Ongoing’
A Ministry of Public Works and Environment spokesperson confirmed that “pothole repairs are still ongoing and road paving has also resumed on Spanish Point Road.”
The Minister of Public Works and Environment Jaché Adams said, “I understand the public’s frustration. We know people are tired of seeing potholes, and tired of feeling like the roads are not where they should be.
“Our crews are out there working at full capacity, and they are doing as much as they can, as quickly as they can, weather permitting.”
The Minister continued, “We are asking the public to keep reporting potholes so that crews can continue to target problem areas as efficiently as possible. Residents can send reports to potholes@gov.bm or use the Government’s GovAlert app.”
The Government spokesperson said, “The new asphalt plant is expected to arrive on-Island by the end of this summer.
“The Ministry thanks the public for its patience as this work continues and reminds motorists to exercise caution on the roads, particularly following periods of heavy rain when new potholes can develop quickly and unexpectedly.”

Asking again. This is a serious question. Is it just possible that those overweight electric buses and overweight Ministerial EVs carrying overweight politicians are exacerbating the damage done to our roads? Comments are encouraged.
Is it possible? Of course.
Is the real cause of the condition of our roads 20 years of neglect as Lt. Col. Burch said? Almost certainly.
That’s not a serious question. Our roads have been neglected for decades, that is the only problem here. Those busses are not the heaviest vehicles on the road.
It is not the single heaviest vehicle that causes the wear. It is the culmination of many heavy vehicles using the road.
The roads have not been ‘neglected for decades’. We had very well-maintained roads until about 2018. Then suddenly it all stopped. The state of the roads is entirely due to the failure of the government. Let’s place the blame exactly where it lies.
‘Pothole Repairs Are Still Ongoing’
And the Government continues to put Band-Aids on gaping open wounds.
We still await the arrival of the now two, possibly three, year late asphalt plant.
Me thinks that it is sitting in Chattanooga, TN. waiting to be paid for by our broke Government that would rather spend money on Caricom and junkets around the world than on a piece of equipment needed for the benefit of the people of Bermuda.
And I think you’re right .
Something with a price tag like that stuff is going to ship as soon as the payment is received .
And, just a gentle reminder the quick rebuild of Southampton Princess? Is there any other projects that on the back burner I’ve missed?
Wrong column and wrong Kool-aid, Steve.
It’s NOT seeing potholes….it’s when my $30,000+ vehicle hits one and I have to replace tires, tye rods, axels, rims, etc WITH NO REIMBURSMENT FROM GOVERNMENT…..who HAVE CAUSED this issue for many reasons.
DO BETTER! We’re literally one of the wealthiest countries in the world and you guys can’t even pave it properly. RIDICULOUS!! The roads are actually dangerous to drive on…
Try riding on those electric buses and save wear and tear on your car.
The ones who’s schedule took us 17 years to figure out? No thanks, didn’t buy a vehicle to not drive it but I get what ya saying!
“Try riding on those electric buses and save wear and tear on your car.”
Ok. Please send me a bus schedule for Route 3 that I can rely on.

Where do you get this idea that Bermuda is a wealthy place when we are well over $3.5B in DEBT? Your share of that debt is almost $60,000.
Wasn’t very long ago when we had no debt worth speaking of. With the exception of large capital projects there was no need to be borrowing money.
Pave the roads government.
The manufacturer has probably done some due diligence on the Bermuda Government and told our bunch of actors and told them that nothing moves until paid in full.
Would not be a bit surrised if it is being held in storage, running up storage fees while slowly depreciating doing nothing while shipping fees have increased astronomically.
Another accomplishment well done by this Government.
Good morning all.
I saw on YouTube the most interesting show from South Africa.
A young man has developed a dissolving net bag, about the size of a man’s fist, to hold tarmac. These bags are then filled with tarmac and starting on the outside of the pothole, moving to fill the pothole ending at the centre. That’s it! No bulldozer! No stoplights for Men Working. The force of traffic moving over the ‘dissolving bags’ fill the pothole mashing it down and the netting dissolves. Wah Lah! He sells kits to the community so that individuals can fill holes in their own drive way.
Very cool idea!
