Cameron Adkins Wins Carifta Silver Medal
Cameron Adkins claimed Bermuda’s first medal on day one of the Carifta Games after winning silver in the Under-17 Boys’ 1,500 metres at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday [April 19]
Adkins clocked a time of 4min 12.86sec, with Sammy Christopher, of Trinidad, taking gold in 4:09.65 and Luke Plummer, of Jamaica, rounding out the podium in 4:13.54.
Also in action in the finals last night was Jake Smith, who finished sixth in the Under-20 Boys’ 1,500 final in 4:07.99. Meanwhile, Riana Robinson placed eleventh in the Under-17 Girls’ final in 5:18.81.
Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert finished third in his heat in the Under-17 Boys’ 400 in 49.76, placing twelfth overall, and David Morris finished sixth in 51.30, placing sixteenth overall.
In the Under-17 Girls’ 400, Amaris Munya placed fifth in her heat in 59.84, placing tenth overall.
Amara Samuels finished sixth in her Under-17 Girls’ 100 heat in 12.31, placing twelfth overall, while Lashee Jones finished third in her heat in 12.68, leaving her fifteenth overall.
In the Under-20 Boys 100, Kyah Richardson finished seventh in his heat in 11.48, placing 27th overall.
Meanwhile, Norre Richardson finished fourth in his heat in 10.69, finishing tenth overall.
