Athletes To Compete In Carifta Finals
Three Bermuda athletes qualified for their event finals at the Carifta Games in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday [April 20].
Miles Outerbridge won his under-20 boys’ 200 metres semi-final heat in 21.08sec to place second overall. He will compete in the final today at the Hasley Crawford Stadium.
Compatriot Preston Ephraim III placed seventh in his semi-final heat to come 31st overall in 23.64.
In the under-17 girls’ 800 semi-finals, Amaris Munya placed third in her heat in 2:20.12 to qualify for the final, with the seventh fastest time. She will run again today.
Surri Russell has also reached the under-17 boys’ 800 after finishing second in his heat in 2:00.57 to place ninth overall. The final will take place today.
In the girls’ under-20 200 semi-final, Amari Samuels finished fifth in her heat in 25.82 to place fifteenth overall.
Meanwhile, Lashee Jones came fourth in her heat in 25.41 to finish twelfth overall.
Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert came fourth in his heat in the under-17 boys 200 semi-final in 22.46. He came fourteenth overall.
In the under-20 boys’ 4×100 relay final, Bermuda’s team – Norre Robinson, Kyah Richardson, Preston Ephraim III and Miles Outerbridge – finished sixth in 42.02.
