Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Sport, and Transport, has praised Bermuda’s athletes for their impressive performances at the Carifta Games held in Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister Darrell attended the prestigious regional competition where Bermuda secured two silver medals in track and field, and also won two medals in the swimming portion thanks to Thomas Cechini.
Tatiana Sousa earned hers in the under-17 girls’ javelin with a personal best throw of 42.24 metres, while Cameron Adkins claimed silver in the under-17 boys’ 1,500 metres.
Another highlight for Bermuda was Miles Outerbridge’s fourth-place finish in the under-20 boys’ 200 final.
“Tatiana Sousa made her debut in Grenada last year and gained that experience,” Minister Darrell told Bernews.
“She knew exactly what to expect this time around and ended up on the podium. I was thrilled to see us win two medals.”
He also commended the passionate support from Bermuda’s travelling fans, highlighting the pride and unity displayed throughout the event.
“I was delighted with what I saw and the support shown to our athletes,” he said.
“Many family members travelled to Trinidad, as well Bermuda sport enthusiasts.
“We didn’t have a large contingent, but we stood out in our pink gear. It’s hard to miss us!”
Minister Darrell emphasised the vital role international competitions play in the growth of Bermuda’s young athletes, both in honing their talents and fuelling their ambition.
“The team was relatively young, and they will have gained valuable experience at Carifta,” he added.
“The crowd was rocking, and the atmosphere was amazing – some of our athletes would not have previously experienced a competition of this magnitude.
“We had the Bahamians with their Junkanoo bands, and the Trinidadians had their steel pans out cheering on their athletes.”

JOB DESCRIPTION
That kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
That can break the employer who doed not know what and how muchis paying for without a job description .
That theory of who does’ what and for what’ cost has a impact of every one with in a community be it employer or emplpyee , consequently every body looses .
People will only pay for what they can not do for them selves and that may work for you or against you in the first instance but the employee can say can say ” that is not my job”. unions just love that , that is a very popular one, as every one get a bight at the Apple .
Taking credit fo other peoples efforts is very naughty, who do you know who is good at that?
Where there is no money nothing get done in Governmen that is refered to as a” lame duck ” they are between a rock and hard place when the can not spend your money .
Inflation is very hard to break as pay rises cater to it .
The more money available the price will keep incrasing .
time costs money famous last words.
Many self employer person will find them selves having to perform all function relating to the job, hiring a apprentice cost extra money making the job impracticle and expensive
We in Bermuda are in the middle of an inflation, contract work pricing and afordability go out the window virtuall y become a imposability resultin in a stand still
Infation is presently destroying Bermuda, people can not keep up with 10 % cost in rising prices.
production comes to a stand still .
Some peope will tell you how good they are, but don’t ask them to do the job.
The assenbly line worker does the same thing all day and every day eventualy they are replaced by a robot
One failure that never ceases to amaze me is the incapable boss who has no hands experioane .
Individually the boss the can not walk and chew gum or sing an dance at the same time.
May be it is time to reorganise the job descriptions in order to save money as the is no need to hire 10 people to do 10 different phases and functions .
One person does the job while the other 9 stand aroung and watch shurely the has to to be a degree of inflexability, however the are certain jobs in the professional field that can not be passed around the floor.
Don’t you just hate it when the polatition who tell every body what is needed to be fixed and does nothing about it, no hands on, all talk and no do, except fight amongst one another.
Do polititions have a job description? or do the just do what the feel like if and when the mood suits them, very rarely if any will you see a polition with a hand on, mostly all talk and no do any thing except cutting ribbons a planting trees.
