Video: Bascome Defeated In Atlantic City
Boxer Nikki Bascome lost in the first round of his welterweight bout against undefeated American Tahmir Smalls in Atlantic City, New Jersey, yesterday [April 12].
Bascome [13-2-0] was defeated for only the second time in his professional career after being stopped by his taller opponent following a flurry of blows and a powerful left hook to the head.
The contest featured on the undercard of a welterweight unification fight between unbeaten pair Jaron Ennis, the IBF champion, and Eimantas Stanionis, who holds the WBA crown. Ennis won with a sixth-round stoppage.
Smalls, 25, improves his record to 14 successive victories.
