Flood Risk From Rain And Thunderstorms
The Ministry of National Security is advising residents to “to stay alert as unsettled weather conditions are forecast to begin tomorrow afternoon [Wednesday], according to the Bermuda Weather Service [BWS].”
A Government spokesperson said, “Periods of heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms are expected, with conditions possibly continuing into early Thursday morning. The chance of thunderstorms is particularly significant and may lead to brief but intense downpours.
“The BWS advises that the latest model data suggests 0.5 to 1 inches of rainfall accumulation during this period. However, there could be up to an inch more in localised heavy showers or thunderstorms.
“While impacts are not expected to exceed those typical of heavy rain events, localised flooding is likely in known flood-prone areas.
“This could affect residential and commercial properties and cause temporary travel disruptions, especially during the Thursday morning commute.
“The public is also reminded that heavy rainfall can worsen potholes or create new ones on roadways. Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution during and after the weather event, as deteriorating road conditions can pose a hazard.
“Residents and business owners are encouraged to take appropriate precautions to protect their property and to monitor official updates.”

I used to just check the Shark oil to see what weather was coming. These days I have to listen to a “Government spokesperson” tell me what the Bermuda Weather Service is reporting (which I can read for myself) and to beware “rainfall can worsen potholes or create new ones on roadways” that the Government has not maintained for many years according to Lt. Col. Burch.
Pot holes? More like craters..and this gum mint need to give each car and bike owners some money to fix all our suspension needs!!!
Sorry, Gerald. The PLP Government will pay you to be pepper-sprayed whilst (unlawfully) preventing debate on immigration reform, but not for suffering its own neglect.
Call me crazy, but have the storm drains and ditches been cleared and the pumps tested?
Good more water to add with the constant crybaby OBA blogging tears.
BACK BITING.
What is to be gained ? As it is not healthy and does not come with any cosnsiquetial results for the benifit and pospearaty to the Governance of this island when the political parties spend their valuable time bashing , degading and humiliating one another in public.
Does this create the wrong impression ?
Our system being suported by taxpayers does not provide for a one sided leadership.
No two men think a like. !
Where is the unity ?
The party system ended at the ballot box .
There is a time and place for such deliberations for public record as the ruling party are expected to comply as you have 36 persons to do it .
For good order with good leadership judgement and prudence ,there is much work left to be completed .
The oposition are a valuable and constructive resourse .
No body should walk into a dark room with out a light are we treated as mushrooms ?
