Saundre Simmons On Upcoming Fight
Bermudian boxer Saundre “Dash” Simmons will look to extend his undefeated streak when he steps into the ring against experienced American Tahlik Taylor in Concord, North Carolina, on Saturday [May 17].
Simmons, who has a perfect 6-0 record, enters the four-round light-heavyweight bout at the Concord Event Centre as the clear favourite.
His journeyman opponent has a record of seven wins, 28 losses, and two draws.
“He’s just another opponent, and it’s another day at the office,” Simmons told Bernews.
“He’s a veteran and has had a lot of fights. He doesn’t get stopped too easily. Hopefully, I can mix it up for a few rounds and fight my game.
“I’m dipping down to light-heavyweight and taking this fight super seriously.
“I’ve had some great sparring and ready to go.”
Simmons, 27, previously fought in February, making a statement in his Bermuda debut by dispatching American Patrick Pierre in the first round at The Shed in Dockyard.
Although born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Simmons was raised in Somerset by his Bermudian parents. He relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, with his mother at age 12.
Simmons enjoyed an impressive amateur career, finishing as runner-up at the USA National Boxing Championships in Louisiana and the prestigious Golden Gloves of America tournament in Oklahoma in 2021.
