Narraway Wins Mountain Jersey At Ciclista
Bermuda’s Nicholas Narraway put in another impressive ride this weekend, finishing second overall and claiming the Mountain Jersey at the 49th edition of the Ronda Ciclista al Maestrat in Spain.
A spokesperson said, “Racing for his Spanish-based team, Tenerife–Bike Point–La Sede, Narraway was part of a two-man breakaway that led the race for much of the 158-kilometre course. The race, known for its steep climbs and narrow backroads, saw Nic shine on the hills, winning the points needed to take the King of the Mountains title.
“The final stretch came down to a sprint between Narraway and Puerto Rican rider Christopher Morales (Controlpack), with Morales just edging ahead to take the win on the line.
“With only 55 of the 114 starters making it to the finish, the race lived up to its reputation for being one of the more selective and tactical events on the Spanish calendar. Narraway’s podium finish and mountain honours confirm he’s continuing to make his mark in the European peloton.
“Next up for Narraway is a trip home to Bermuda, where he’ll be competing in the Bermuda National Time Trial and Road Race Championships.”
