Police Treating Woman’s Death As “Suspicious”
[Updated] The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed that the death of Honnee Smith is being treated as “suspicious.”
A police spokesperson said yesterday [May 12], “We are declaring the sudden death of the 28 year old young lady found last Thursday morning in Warwick as a suspicious death.
“A team has been assigned to conduct investigations into this matter.”
On May 9, a police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is once again appealing to members of the public who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and who may have seen a lone female along the trails to make contact with Detective Sergeant Kendy Swainson on, 717-2355 or via e-mail at, kswainson@bps.bm.
“You may also call 211, the main police number, 295-0011 or use the community reporting portal at portal.police.bm.”
Update: The police confirmed that a male suspect has been arrested, and the suspect remains in police custody at this time.
“The investigating team is appealing for anyone familiar with Ms. Smith and who can assist in tracing her movements from Monday, May 5 until around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday May 8, 2025, to contact Detective Inspector Leroy Mathurin on 717-2040 or, via e-mail at, lmathurin@bps.bm,” the police spokesperson said.
“We would particularly like to speak with persons who live near the Darrell’s Wharf ferry terminal, and have CCTV cameras. Your devices may have captured images which we believe could prove helpful with this ongoing investigation.”
