Special Olympians Enjoy End-to-End Event

Sacha Richardson, the Special Olympics Bermuda board chair, said participating in the Convex End-to-End charity walk at the weekend “brought immense joy” to their athletes.

Special Olympics Bermuda are regular participants in the End-to-End and made the journey from Beacon Hill in Somerset to Dockyard as part of the three-mile fun walk.

More than 30 athletes, plus family and friends, participated in the annual event.

“The participation of our athletes in the End-to-End is yet another inspiring tale of the significant of inclusion,” Ms Richardson told Bernews.

“Taking part with family and friends in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere filled with cheers, brought immerse joy to our athletes.

“It was a wonderful day that highlighted the unity and importance of their support systems during such as meaningful event.”

Karen Woodley, the Special Olympic Bermuda national director, thanked Athene Life Re for once again covering the registration fees for the Special Olympics Bermuda athletes.

Athene sponsored the End-to-End Fun Walk & Cycle.

“Our athletes were enthusiastic and energised,” Ms Woodley said. “We partied all the way to Dockyard with the crowd cheering us on. Thanks so much to Athene.”

This year’s End-to-End supported five local charities: Age Concern [ACB Hardship Programme], Bermuda Audubon Society [Conservation Management Plan for High Point], Bermuda Red Cross [Equipment Rental Revitalisation Programme], the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Bermuda and The Reading Clinic [Core Reading Programme].
