Govt Applauds Berkeley’s Fintech Programme
The Government “applauded the ongoing success and innovation of The Berkeley Institute’s Financial Technology [Fintech] Programme following a special student presentation attended by Premier David Burt, the Minister of Education Crystal Caesar, and the Junior Minister of Finance, Wayne Furbert.”
A Government spokesperson said, “During the visit, the Premier commended students for their forward-thinking fintech solutions. It highlighted the programme as a model for how education can equip young Bermudians with the skills to lead in the global digital economy.”

“The work shared today reflects the kind of innovation and problem-solving that Bermuda needs as we continue to position ourselves as a global leader in digital finance,” the Premier stated.
“From AI-powered apps to creative financial tools modelled after global platforms, these students are not just learning; they are contributing to Bermuda’s digital future.”
Minister Caesar said, “The Fintech class is a practical example of The Berkeley Institute’s Financial and Insurance Services Signature Learning Programme in action.

“This programme is about preparing students for jobs that do not yet exist, and what we saw today shows that you are already thinking ahead. Through the students’ presentations, which incorporate the use of emerging technologies, they are building knowledge and experience that will go with them into their careers and chosen vocations.”
The Government spokesperson said, “The Berkeley Institute’s Fintech Programme, now in its third year, was launched under the leadership of Principal Keisha Douglas and spearheaded by Fintech Instructor Dee-AH Iris.
“The initiative blends classroom learning with hands-on projects in blockchain, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital payments and other areas. Recent collaborations with corporate partners such as KPMG and Chubb have enriched the student experience.”
Premier Burt added, “With programmes like this, Bermuda is not only investing in education – we are investing in the architects of our digital future.”
FinTech Instructor, Dee-AH Iris commented, “I am thankful for the support of our Administration Team, Learning Partners and our Premier. Bermuda, our young people are embracing cutting-edge technology. The best is yet to come.”
The Government spokesperson said, “The Government of Bermuda remains committed to fostering initiatives that bridge education and industry and will continue to support the development of future-focused learning opportunities for all students.”
