One Provides Support To BNG Summer Camp
One Communications is donating a summer camp space to local charity, the Bermuda National Gallery, with the BNG’s signature Art+Tech Summer Camp teaching digital art-making skills such as animation, digital painting and photo editing to students aged 11 to 14. Each camper is given an iPad and Apple Pencil to use during the week.
A BNG spokesperson explained that securing a location was becoming a considerable challenge for the popular camp, which has outgrown the Gallery’s capacity within City Hall. One Communications heard of the difficulties the camp was having and generously offered a solution: a large space in their nearby offices on Victoria Street.
Ciara Eve, One Communications’ Marketing Manager, says, “We see the positive impact that the Bermuda National Gallery has on our community and in particular on the island’s young people, not only with their summer camp, but through their educational programming throughout the year. One Communications is committed to supporting local charities and community initiatives, and we are delighted to be able to assist BNG by donating space for their Art+Tech camp.”
A spokesperson added, “The popular camp was fully subscribed within the first two weeks of registration opening, prompting BNG to add one more week to their summer schedule. An additional module of Beginner Animation is being offered June 30-July 4.”
BNG Executive Director Jennifer L. Phillips says, “As a nonprofit organisation, the Bermuda National Gallery depends entirely on community support to fund every aspect of our operations. We are grateful to have One Communications as one such community partner, along with Centennial Bermuda Foundation whose support allows us to provide bursaries for camp spots to students with financial need, ensuring access to art education for everyone.”
A spokesperson added, “Parents interested in signing up for the BNG Art+Tech Summer camp can visit www.bng.bm/art-plus-tech. Queries may be addressed to BNG Officer of Community Engagement, Programming and Learning Mikaela Joy Kawaley-Lathan at programming@bng.bm.”
