ABIC Celebrates Scholars And Mentors
The Association of Bermuda International Companies [ABIC] hosted its annual Mentors’ Reception on Thursday, July 10, at Chubb Bermuda, recognizing the 28 students selected for the 2025 ABIC Education Awards program.
A spokesperson said, “Now in its 48th year, the event celebrated professional development and the lasting impact of mentorship.
“Since its inception, the ABIC Education Awards program has played a transformative role in preparing Bermuda’s future leaders for careers in international business. This year, ABIC awarded a record $800,000 in scholarships, made possible through the generous support of ABIC’s member companies—key contributors to Bermuda’s international business community.”
Christian Dunleavy, Chairman of ABIC, emphasized the importance of investing in Bermuda’s youth, saying, “Each of these students represents the promise of Bermuda’s future. We are proud to provide both financial support and mentorship as they pursue their academic and professional goals. Their success is our shared success.
“I must also thank the ABIC members who have supported this program for 48 years. Without their generosity we would not have been able to contribute a record $800,000 to prepare the next generation of Bermudian talent.”
The reception brought together students, mentors, alumni, and members of the ABIC community. Michelle Seymour-Smith, Chair of the ABIC Education Awards, spoke to the enduring impact of the program, saying: “Over the past 48 years, this program has grown not only in financial support but in the meaningful mentorship that helps shape the future of our young people.
“Mentorship plays a critical role in setting students up for success—providing them with the guidance, encouragement, and professional insight they need to thrive. Thanks to the ongoing commitment from our donors, mentors, and partners, these students are supported throughout their academic journeys and as they prepare to build careers in international business. We are inspired by their potential and look forward to the positive impact they will have on Bermuda.”
The keynote speaker was Nadir Young, a 2021 ABIC Scholar, who now works at PwC and is pursuing his CPA designation.
