Bermuda College Launches ‘Built To Last’
Bermuda College has launched its ‘Built to Last’ campaign to celebrate alumni in the skilled trades whose work has made a lasting impact on Bermuda and to inspire future generations to pursue technical careers.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda College has launched a new campaign aimed at recognising the achievements of alumni who have excelled in the skilled trades.
“The Built to Last campaign seeks to spotlight individuals who have completed technical education at the College and have gone on to make a meaningful impact in their field or community.”
“We want to tell the stories of those who have built careers — and built Bermuda — with their hands, skills, and vision,” said Necheeka Trott, Special Projects Lead at Bermuda College. “This campaign celebrates not only their success, but the transformative power of technical education.”
College President Dr. David Sam, who initiated the campaign, said it reinforced the institution’s commitment to all pathways of excellence. “These alumni are people who have, quite literally, built Bermuda. It is through their endeavours and hard work that Bermuda is what it is today — and that is worthy of honour.
“Built to Last honours those whose achievements show that trade education is not only foundational — it’s aspirational. These are the individuals whose work we see, benefit from, and rely on every day.”
He added, “While the use of artificial intelligence grows, AI is not about to pour concrete, wire a house, or crawl under a sink to fix a leak. It is important to consider the trades as a career.”
The spokesperson said, “Nominees must be Bermuda College alumni and meet at least one of the following criteria: significant impact in their field or community, evidence of leadership or mentorship, high ethical standards, involvement in service, or an inspiration to current and future students.
“The public is invited to nominate outstanding individuals who exemplify professional excellence, community service, and leadership in their trade.
“Nominations are open until Friday, July 11, via a form accessible on the College’s website. Honourees will be featured in a celebratory event designed to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.
