Sailing: Bermuda Fitted Dinghy Race Results
Skipper Sebastian Kempe piloted Challenger II to two victories Sunday as the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy Race season continued with four races in Mangrove Bay.
The day’s events, hosted by the Sandys Boat Club, also saw wins for Contest III from the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and Victory IV representing the St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club.
In the first race for the E.R. Williams Cup, Josh Greenslade helmed Contest III to first place. Kempe, an Olympic hopeful from the Sandys Boat Club, finished second with Challenger II, followed by Allan Frith in Victory IV in third. Michael Wollman guided Elizabeth II from the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club to a fourth-place finish.
Kempe and Challenger II dominated the next two events, winning both the Middleton Shield and the Masters Cup races.
The final race was the all-women’s contest for the Leatrice Oatley Trophy. Sophia Dias skippered Victory IV to the win, successfully defending the title. Sarah Davis in Challenger II secured second place, while Millie Lewis sailed Contest III to third.
