Special Medals For Triangle Challenge
Medals designed by local artist and runner Domico Watson will once again be up for grabs at the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge, which returns from January 16 to 18 next year.
Watson, an accomplished graphic designer and long-distance runner, first created the distinctive triangle-shaped medals for the 2020 event.
Each of the four medals features imagery inspired by Bermuda’s rich culture and landscape.
When placed together in the correct order, strategically placed magnetic grooves allow the medals to snap into one large, unified triangle.
Participants earn medals for completing the three race events: the Butterfield Front Street Mile, the BF&M 10K, and either the PwC Bermuda Marathon or Half-Marathon.
The coveted fourth medal is awarded to those who complete all three races across the three-day weekend, symbolising their achievement in completing the challenge.
Watson, the son of former Olympic 800 metres runner Michael Watson and former Bermuda National Athletic Association president Donna Raynor, brings a deep personal connection to the sport.
In addition to his creative contributions, he has completed marathons in New York, Chicago, Toronto, and London, often raising funds for charity along the way.
He also designed special medals for the Carifta Games, which was scheduled to be held in Bermuda in 2020 before being cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge continues to attract runners from around the world.
With options ranging from a fast-paced one-mile sprint to a full marathon, the event offers something for athletes of all abilities, including the Half Triangle and Full Triangle Challenges for those looking to test their endurance over multiple days.
