Lumina & SkillCraft Host Trading Workshop
The Lumina Festival partnered with SkillCraft Bermuda to host an interactive trading-for-beginners workshop for 16 future professionals taking part in a social media internship program.
A spokesperson said, “The session was designed to introduce interns to the tools they would need to understand low-risk trading options on the stock market. SkillCraft social media interns found the session to be eye-opening and encouraging, making them think more deeply about managing money and motivating them to explore other aspects of the financial markets, according to an anonymous survey.
“The Lumina Festival engaged Trust Officer Erik Simmons to co-lead the workshop with SkillCraft Co-Founder and Program Director Margot Shane. Simmons took the interns through a live trading demo.”
“The opportunity to partner with Lumina Festival on this innovative financial literacy initiative and speak with the interns at SkillCraft appealed to me,” Simmons said. “Sessions like this one are empowering to young people because understanding how your money works builds the confidence you need to manage your finances. And when it comes to investing, the earlier you start, the faster you can reach financial freedom.”
“Financial literacy is important, and I wish I had learned it from my parents,” Shane said. “As an organisation that works mainly with young people about to set out on their career journeys, I thought it would be powerful for this information to come from slightly older but still young people in the financial sector. The goal of this session was to make investing through the stock market an accessible option for them.”
The spokesperson said, “Similar workshops will be held at the Financial Literacy Summit on September 26, 2025. Tickets are on sale through luminafestival.com and ptix.bm. For more information and general inquiries, email support@luminafest.com.”
