Bermudian poet Nancy Anne Miller has been recognized internationally with the publication of five poems in BIM: Arts for the 21st Century, the distinguished Caribbean literary journal first launched in Barbados in 1942.

A spokesperson said, “The importance of the magazine is that it provides a miniature history of primary sources in West Indian literature. In the mid twentieth century, the magazine fostered the idea, new in the region at that time, that the profession of writing is an honorable one.

“Other notable poets published within the edition are: Mervyn Morris, Ian MacDonald and Opal Adisa Palmer.

“Miller has edited a Bermudian Poets section for Sargasso: A Journal of Caribbean Letters, Arts and Culture featuring Paul Maddern, Andra Simons, Chris Astwood and Yeshiva Townsend. Maddern has lived in Ireland for decades and both Bermuda and Ireland are an influence in his work. Simons has lived in London and has absorbed theatrical influences as a poet. Astwood has released Jane Doe which explores the tensions of language and imagery. Townsend constantly and effectively redefines what poetry is capable of. Sargasso will be released in Sept. 2025.”
