St. George’s Releases August Newsletter
The Corporation of St. George’s has released its August newsletter with community updates, cultural news, and upcoming initiatives.
A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George’s is pleased to release the August edition of its official newsletter, highlighting community updates, cultural milestones, and upcoming initiatives for the historic Town.
“As we are now in the height of summer, the Corporation of St. George’s wishes to advise the town that the next General Council Meeting is on Thursday, September 25, at 6 PM in Towne Hall. The Council is observing its traditional August summer break. In September, residents are encouraged to attend for updates on key municipal projects and new initiatives focused on community services, culture, and infrastructure.
“From the Desk of the Town Manager, Town Manager Foggo reminds residents and businesses to review hurricane storm plans, stock essential supplies, and stay informed on power and communication protocols. Additionally, the St. George’s Seafood Festival will be paused for 2025. While its absence will be missed, this break allows the Corporation to rethink its event offerings to better serve the community.
“In celebratory news, the Town is proud to welcome Reverend Thomas Nisbett back to St. Peter’s Church and the Chapel of Ease. A St. Georgian by birth, Reverend Nisbett returns after decades of ministry abroad, bringing deep roots and a global perspective. Internationally, our Mayor, Quinell Francis, JP, travelled to the Dorset town of Lyme Regis to participate in the Somers Day Parade, spotlighting the enduring twinning relationship between the Town of St. George and Lyme Regis.
“For our August business spotlight, we feature Long Story Short, a beloved cultural hub founded by Kristin White, offering books, tours, and storytelling in the heart of Water Street West. In congratulatory news, Lacquered Lounge earned top honors at the Best of Bermuda Awards for best mani/pedi, and the Town saw the launch of 5G+ mobile service that brings advanced connectivity to residents and visitors alike.
“Residents are encouraged to stay connected via official channels as the Corporation continues to build a vibrant, resilient Town of St. George.
