Arrests For Knives, Warrants, DUI & More
The Bermuda Police Service carried out a weekend policing operation resulting in multiple arrests.
A police spokesperson said, “Under the direction of Acting Chief Inspector Anthony Smith of the Tactical Operations Division, of the Bermuda Police Service [BPS], executed a comprehensive weekend policing plan designed to ensure public safety and uphold the law.
“During the course of operations, the BPS executed multiple firearm and misuse of drug warrants, one of which resulted in the already reported arrest of a 19-year-old male suspect for the murder of Janae Minors and the attempted murder of an 18-year-old male. Officers also issued a substantial number of moving violation tickets and effected several arrests.
“Among those arrested were persons found carrying knives without lawful excuse in public places.
Bladed Article Offences:
“Around 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, Police Officers were traveling west along east Broadway when they observed a motorcycle traveling in the same direction at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle and caused it to stop on Frog Lane, near the junction with Devon lane, Pembroke.
“An officer informed the rider, a 25-year-old female, that she was stopped due to her manner of riding. Checks showed she had outstanding warrants, for which she was subsequently arrested.
“A search of the motorcycle she was riding, led to the recovery of a knife from under the seat. The subject was further arrested for possession of a knife in a public place and transported to Hamilton Police Station [HPS].
“At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, officers were conducting 315f checks on Parsons Road, near the junction with Fenton’s Drive, when they stopped a motorcycle being ridden by a 19-year-old male who admitted having a knife under the bike’s seat. The knife was seized. The man was arrested and transported to HPS.
DUI Offence:
“Around 1:35 a.m. on, Sunday, September 21, 2025, police responded to a report of a motorcar stopped on Harbour Road near the junction with Tamarind Vale, Warwick. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle with the engine running, lights on, and the driver, a male, asleep in driver’s seat.
“On speaking with driver, officers smelled intoxicants. The officers noted his speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed. He was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Warrant Executed:
“At 9:35 p.m. on Friday September 19, 2025, Police executed a warrant at a residence on St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke. During the search, officers located and recovered several items liable for seizure including a quantity of suspected controlled drugs. A 24-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. He was further arrested on active warrant.
“All arrested individuals will be appearing before the courts in due course.
Stop and Search:
“The public are reminded, if you wish to avoid being inconvenienced during stop and search operations, you must ensure that all documents required for legally operating a vehicle on the island’s roads, are in order.
“Members of the public are further urged to comply with officers while they are carrying out their lawful duties and not to interfere with police operations.”
