Bermuda Is Love #LessIsMore Campaign

Bermuda Is Love is launching its #LessIsMore campaign this September to challenge fast fashion’s wasteful system and promote sustainability through clothing drives, workshops, and free giveaways.

Changing the Fast Fashion Industry: Why “Less is More”?

A spokesperson said, “Every year, the fashion industry produces over 100 billion garments, far more than humanity could ever wear. The equivalent of one garbage truck of textiles is landfilled or burned every single second. This is not just about consumers shopping too much. It is a structural crisis of overproduction.

“Fashion companies deliberately flood the market with cheap clothing, prioritizing profits over people and the planet. More than 60% of fabrics are made from fossil-fuel-based synthetics, meaning each shirt, dress, or pair of leggings leaves a carbon footprint that can last for centuries in landfills. An estimated 85% of textiles produced every year are never reused. They end up in landfills or are incinerated.

“This is not simply a consumer problem. It is a systemic issue in the way clothing is designed, produced, marketed, and discarded. We should not feel ashamed for wanting clothes. Instead, we must demand better from the industry and reimagine how we value, share, and care for what we already own.

What “Less is More” Means

“Less is More” is about treating clothing as a resource, not a disposable product. It is about sharing, repairing, and reusing instead of constantly buying new. It is about valuing quality over quantity. It is about building a culture where fashion serves people and the planet rather than corporate profit margins.

The Bigger Picture

“Fast fashion is not just about overconsumption. It is a production system that is designed to overproduce, draining resources, polluting communities, exploiting workers, and filling landfills with textile waste.

“Together, we can create a future where less truly is more. This means less waste and more sharing. It means less overproduction and more sustainability. It means less corporate profit at the planet’s expense and more community-driven solutions.
