Bermuda’s junior cyclists have won four medals at the 2025 Caribbean Junior Cycling Championships in Barbados.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda’s junior cyclists returned home from the 2025 Caribbean Junior Cycling Championships in Barbados with an impressive four medals and a wealth of international racing experience that underscores the depth of young talent developing on the island.

“The championships, held August 30–31 at the Marion Jones Complex, brought together the best under-19 cyclists from across the region to contest both the Individual Time Trial and Road Race. Bermuda’s five-rider squad showed grit, tactical awareness, and team spirit throughout two hard days of racing in hot, challenging conditions.

Medal Performances

  • Charlotte Millington stormed to gold in the Junior Women’s Time Trial, then followed it up with a silver medal in the 68-kilometre road race after a fierce head-to-head battle with Martinique. The silver marked her seventh career medal at the regional championships and her last as a junior, closing this chapter of her cycling journey in style.
  • Skye Ferguson, representing Bermuda for the third consecutive year, claimed bronze in the Junior Women’s Time Trial and backed it up with a strong ride to finish fourth in the road race.
  • Jacob Wright, making his first appearance at the championships, impressed in the 15/16 Men’s Time Trial with a bronze medal, and then rode aggressively in the road race, spending long stretches leading the peloton. Though he missed the podium in the sprint, he gained valuable tactical experience on the international stage.

Strong Efforts Across the Team

“Bermuda’s other riders also left their mark on the championships:

  • Keon Stevens, in his first race outside Bermuda, showed determination after being dropped from the junior men’s peloton, finishing strongly on his own and gaining confidence for future international competition.
  • Andrew Thomas suffered a mechanical issue in the road race that left him chasing with a rider from the Bahamas, but his persistence and fight to the finish line demonstrate the resilience needed at this level.

Building for the Future

“The team was expertly supported by Manager and Coach Peter Dunne, BBA President and Mechanic/Coach Chequan Richardson, who ensured the riders were prepared and supported throughout the weekend.”

“Every one of our riders can return home proud of their efforts,” said Dunne. “The medals are fantastic, but the real win is the experience and learning they’ve gained, which will fuel their development and strengthen Bermuda cycling in the years to come.”

A Proud Showing for Bermuda

The spokesperson said, “With four medals — gold, silver, and two bronze — and all five riders gaining invaluable race experience, Bermuda has once again demonstrated it can compete with the region’s best. The championships were a milestone for these young athletes and a positive signal for the future of road cycling on the island.”
